Yeah, we made it! I wanted to post sooner but I've been running my chicken butt off since we got here and haven't had much time. First of all, everything went great with our flight. Very smooth. I wanted to chat with the pilot about his technique, but Cindy said I had to stay in the suitcase until we got to the hotel. I thought she'd at least let me out for breakfast, but she told me she was having eggs and wanted to spare me any potential pain. I tried to let her know that was no big deal for me - some chickens are meant to make it in this world and others are not. I give a crap. I hatched before I could be turned into an omelet; that's all that matters.
Here I am enjoying the view from our incredible room on the 15th floor of the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel. It's very sweet! We have a great king-sized bed, but the German wouldn't let me sleep with her. She claimed there was "no room" because she wanted to stretch out and lay diagonally. This apparently is a big deal to people in the 6 Foot Club. I still say there are other reasons...but I'm wasn't going to argue so I slept on the couch.
So, we went downstairs to check things out before the opening session. I made sure the Maine Student Program's donation to the PAC fundraiser looked good - we want to raise lots of money for the auction!
Then I turned around from the table and this young chick grabbed me, put an orange ribbon on my head and gave me a hug. So I smooched her cheek. What else is a chicken to do?
There was a cool statue of a hot naked chick in the hallway, with a snake wrapped around her, holding a piece of fruit. How you like THEM apples?!
I decided to sit with Cindy & the girls at the opening session, just for kicks. Here I am pretending to pay attention...Jaime picked me up and had her hand on my junk. I knew it was going to be an unforgettable evening!
Or so I thought.
After the session we went back to the room, and my travelling companion informed me I would have to stay in the room because the awards ceremony was very dressy and I would not fit in with my lack of attire. I surprised her and told her I brought my tux. This apparently caught her off guard. She sighed and said that I had to stay in the room because of behavior issues. On my part. Can you believe it?! I'm just a chicken looking for a great time. Always. I started to argue but her face was turning red, so I decided to lay off and not piss her off in hopes that I'd get to par-tay Friday night instead. She gave me a beer, handed me the remote, and left. She did take the camera and took a picture of the students from Maine looking pretty in their dresses. I just want to say I would have fit PERFECTLY at the banquet.
I will post more later, and share pics of my sightseeing from Friday night. Right now it's 7:11 am and I need a beer. Or two. I'm on vacation, right? Later! -Chet
